The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) is a government energy efficiency scheme for Great Britain, administered by Ofgem. ECO4 is the 4th phase of the project, which started on 1st April, 2022.
How I can Identify My Boiler is Non-Condensing?
To identify whether your boiler is condensing, there are a few things you can look for:
- Age of the boiler: Condensing boilers have been mandatory in the UK since 2005, so if your boiler was installed before 2005, it’s likely to be a Non-condensing model.
- Efficiency rating: Condensing boilers are much more efficient than non-condensing models, so if your boiler has an efficiency rating of 86% or less, it’s likely to be a Non-condensing boiler.
- Condensate pipe: Condensing boilers produce a small amount of water when they operate, which is drained away through a condensate pipe. Look for a white plastic pipe that exits underneath a boiler along with copper pipes and runs into a kitchen or outside garden drain. Non-condensing boilers do not have this pipe.
