Grant funding is available for a range of measures including insulation, solar panels (and batteries), heat pumps and new boilers. The grant funding is free and does not have to be repaid. The grants are intended to help households reduce their energy consumption to help will bills and reduce carbon footprints.
There are several schemes that offer grant assistance to households to boost the energy efficiency of their homes. ECO4, LA Flex, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme and the Great British Insulation Scheme are just some of the avenue through which funding could be secured for home eco measures
You can apply for a grant if you live in a property that is expensive to heat, or if you or somebody living with you are vulnerable to cold. Funding could be available if you are considered a vulnerable household and receive at least one of the following benefits: Income-based Jobseekers Allowance (JSA), Income-related Employment & Support Allowance (ESA), Income Support (IS), Pension Credit Guarantee Credit , Working Tax Credit (WTC), Child Tax Credits (CTC), Universal Credit (UC) , Housing Benefit (new eligible benefit under ECO4), Pension Credit Savings Credit (new eligible benefit under ECO4) Additionally, low income households could also be eligible, as can those whose homes have poor energy efficiency EPC ratings. This is a change from previous schemes where having to be in receipt of government benefits meant that many households were excluded from funding.
Grants will not always cover the full cost of installation, so in some instances you may be expected to make a contribution. In the case of lower cost measures such as loft insulation and some boilers, it is likely the grant will cover the cost of the installation. Other measures such as solar PV systems and heat pumps are expensive to install and the grant may only partly cover the costs. Even if you do not qualify for a grant covering the full cost, it is still worth applying as the grant can make a significant dent in the costs of installation, plus we may also be able to offer you generous discounts.
